Do you know the differences between CBD oil and hemp seed oil? Many people use their preferred choice for different things. But how do you know or which one you should manufacture? We’ve got you covered. Let us breakdown the differences between CBD oil and hemp seed oil.
CBD vs Hemp
What part of the plant is it from?
CBD and Hemp come from different parts of the cannabis plant. CBD oil is sourced from the whole plant such as the stalks, flowers or leaves, while hemp seed oil is sourced from only the seeds of the cannabis plant. Since the popularity of both is growing, people now refer to hemp oil as hemp seed oil to differentiate the two.
What is the extraction method?
Since CBD uses the whole plant, a process called extraction is used. Most producers use the CO2 extraction method. The CO2 extraction method uses carbon dioxide under high pressure and low temperatures to isolate, preserve, and maintain the purity of the oil.
Hemp seed oil gets extracted much differently through a process called cold pressing. In this process, the seeds get de-shelled, chilled and then squeezed for their content. This process is very similar to how sunflower seed oil or jojoba oil is extracted.
What’s the difference in THC and CBD levels?
CBD oil, per the FDA, must have 0.3% or less THC content to be sold legally. Hemp seed oil doesn’t contain THC or CBD.
What are the differences in uses and benefits?
CBD oil is used primarily in holistic or alternative practices to help balance the body’s internal system. CBD oil can also relieve muscle soreness and reduce inflammation and pain when it is applied topically. Because of its inflammation-fighting properties, studies have begun to see if CBD oil can help reduce acne. When CBD oil is taken orally, it provides relief from anxiety. Many people use CBD oil as an effective sleep aid as well.
Hemp seed oil is used primarily in skincare and food options. In skincare, hemp seed oil proves to be a great skin moisturizer and softener. Hemp seed oil is rich in antioxidants, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids that benefit your body. These fatty acids have been linked to improved brain and heart health.
Both CBD and Hemp seed oil provide their own unique health benefits. CBD oil contains 0.3% or less THC content to give you the therapeutic effects of CBD without the mind-altering effects of something with a stronger THC content and hemp seed oil can be a beneficial supplement to add to your diet and skin routine.
